Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family sometimes depended on food delivery for free from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
